WASHINGTON (AP) - US Airways Group Inc. spent $540,000 in the first half of 2007 to lobby the federal government, according to a disclosure form. The company lobbied on legislation regarding aviation security and spending, reauthorization of the Federal Aviation Administration and other bills, according to the form posted online Aug. 27 by the Senate's public records office. In addition to Congress, the Tempe, Ariz.-based company lobbied the FAA and the Homeland Security and Transportation departments. US Airways is among several commercial airlines lobbying for proposed legislation that would shift some costs to the general aviation industry -- that is, owners and operators of corporate jets and other small planes -- to help pay for upgrades to the air traffic control system and other aviation programs.
